Thousands of cars swarmed the fairgrounds this year for the annual Car Craft Summer Nats and apart from a few showers Friday the event was blessed with beautiful weather for the weekend. MCR went with a larger space and tent this year and the rainfall made the investment a little sweeter as it fit the 9 vehicles on hand with ease and made a good refuge for many wet spectators. The display posed as a potential bottleneck for the event as swarms of spectators were drawn in by the eye-catching cars like John Balow's yellow 1970 Superbird and Wayne Tunis' red 1968 Hemi Dart Clone. Numerous MCR customers and employees were present to share their vehicles and restoration experience.
The real show stopper this year had to be John Balow's 1968 Barracuda which underwent an MCR 'progressive restoration' this past winter. This car was built in the spirit of John's high-school car and has been featured in numerous recent issues of Mopar Muscle Magazine. MCR offers their 'progressive restoration' to those owners enjoying a collector vehicle whose years are starting to show. Per-visit milestones are set as to maximize the amount of time you can enjoy the vehicle. Read more about it the MCR services page.
Several customers also returned from previous MCR displays at the Summer Nats and it was good to see that all the cars are still being truly enjoyed! These customers included Doug Ousdigian from Chaska MN with his jet black '72 Challenger, Steve Pachl of Brooklyn Park MN and his fully restored purple convertible '69 Dart GT, Scott Wicklund of Elk River MN and his baby blue '63 Belvedere, and Bob Deis of Hudson WI with his blue '69 GTO.
John Balow and his wife also brought along their personal bright yellow 1970 Superbird which was featured on the cover of the January 2003 Mopar Muscle Magazine and was a feature car on My Classic Car with Dennis Gage several years back also. We placed the bird front and center and it was a like a magnet to those who knew what they were looking at and even more so for those who didn't!
Another big hit at the MCR tent was Wayne Tunis' 1968 Hemi Dart Clone. This tribute to Mopar and American history was completely restored by MCR and made its debut to the world with a bang on the cover of the May 2004 Mopar Muscle.
It's great to see this event continuing to grow with each year and MCR will certainly be there again next year! Be sure to check out the official event page for more videos from the event including some clips of the Car Craft Burnout and Miss Car Craft Summer Nats contests!
